Wanda Maximoff Crown

I made this wire wrapped crown for a Wanda Maximoff Halloween costume. I was inspired by Elvish circlets, the head piece design of Wanda Maximoff in the Television series WandaVision and the magical swirls that would appear at Wanda’s head while she is reading from the Darkhold.

I first drew out a design, then shaped the thicker gold wire to follow the design, then added the thin wire wrapping to bond and hold the shape, while attaching the piece to a head band.

Gold Crown

This elvish crown inspired piece was made from a necklace, vintage freshwater pearls and wire.

I used freshwater pearls to create everlasting, durable Baby’s Breath.

This piece can be worn low on the forehead or at the hair line and has a ribbon closure at the back for adjustability.

This piece is for sale.

Elphaba’s Hat

I made this hat as part of an Elphaba Halloween costume. I used cardstock to mock out and shape the different plains and the correct conical shape. I used three black hats I found at op-shops; I seam ripped them into workable straw braids and cut and glued them into the cardstock plains. I glued one of the finer straw braids at the seams and glued one of the hats brims to the underside, to create a heavier base, to match the weight of the cone section.

I wanted this piece to be light enough to wear but strong enough to become decoration afterwards.

Flower Crowns

During my Floristry Certificate I learnt how to make industry standard fresh flower crowns, as seen in the photograph below. These are fully wired, intricately made and perishable.

I also make artificial flower crowns and flower crowns using dried and preserved flowers. These are my preferred style as they last longer and can be wore several times.
